Greg played his high school baseball at Leland High School in San Jose California. His high school career was highlighted by being named to the All conference first team three times as a shortstop and the conference player of the year his senior year. In addition, he was named to the All Central Coast section first team as a utility player. Other members of that team included MLB stars Barry Bonds, Moses Alou, and Greg Jeffries.
After finishing his high school career and declining an offer from the Los Angeles Dodgers, Greg began his college career at San Jose City College. He was selected to the Golden Gate All Conference team as a catcher in his freshman year. After declining to sign with the San Diego Padres, Greg concluded his career at San Jose City College by being named to the Golden Gate All Conference team for a second time in addition to leading the conference in hitting. He was also named to the All Northern California Junior College team as well as winning the Northern California “Big Stick” honors. Before beginning his career at Oklahoma State University he spent a summer in the Cape Cod league playing for the Hyannis Mets with MLB stars Albert Belle and Robin Ventura. While at OSU Greg played for two Big 8 Championship teams and a West Region championship team. At OSU, Greg had a knack for getting timely hits in critical situations including several game winners. Greg was fortunate enough to finish his career at OSU by playing in the National Championship game in the College World Series against the University of Georgia.
Greg began his coaching career at Golden Sierra High School as the head coach and was named as the Golden Empire Conference coach of the year in 1998. Greg ended his high school coaching career as the head coach at Center High School in Citrus Heights California. Since finishing his high school coaching career Greg has been fortunate enough to work as a private hitting instructor and coach select travel teams. Currently you will find Greg’s teaching Imprint on many Division 1 players including player currently in the SEC, Big 12, and Conference USA. In addition, Greg currently works with some the highest ranked high school players in the state.
